Here I am again trying my utmost to make a simple card for the third challenge on Less is More. It's sooooooooooo difficult not to put papers and lots of embellies on but all in all I'm quite pleased with this one. I certainly need more practise but I will keep playing:)
The theme this week is spring so I started off by printing the sentiment straight onto the card. Yes, I know, the 'S' is a bit squinty:( So that was my first mistake although believe it or not I didn't notice it till I'd loaded the photo on here. Funny how the camera picks up what the naked eye doesn't isn't it. Sometime they're our worst enemy lol.
The tulips are a graphic from My Craft Studio which I printed then cut with a 2" circle punch and added to a layer of pink card stock. I then added a little bit of stickles for some sparkle:) A wee bit of ribbon and some gems from my stash finished it off.
So, how did I do this week girls? All constructive criticism greatly received:)
other challenges:
Charisma Cardz - spring has sprung
Allsorts - inspired by nature
A Spoon Full of Sugar - birthday wishes
Thanks for stopping by Anne x
I don't think the S is wonky Anne, it's just a different font...maybe one with a totally different slant or one that has exactly the same slope as the rest of the letters wouldn't have looked out of place. Pairing fonts is quite a tricky business I've found!
ReplyDeleteI really like this card and the twinkle looks great.
I've been thinking about the use of gems too. On a card with lots of layers and embellishments, I think I would tend to pop a few gems in an unadorned corner... however, with a CAS card... those empty spaces are actually quite happy without them. It's strange, but I think I'm right. What do others think?

Lovely card and I think the quirky S looks good
ReplyDeleteThis is really pretty Anne, and I wouldn't have even noticed that 'S' if you hadn't said anything.
ReplyDeleteI think Chrissie is problably right about not needing the gems, but I know I would have added them too...lol**

I love it Anne xx Jan
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice!
ReplyDeleteSuch a very pretty image - and I love the sparkle around the edge. The fonts on the sentiment are super - very modern looking.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about gems on CAS - sometimes I think they are absolutely the right thing to add, and then sometimes not. I think I might have tried to be brave on this and not added any! :)
REally like your card Anne, hun
ReplyDeleteSo sorry it pains you lol
The thing about CAS and minimal is NOT to fill up the corners, for no reason. The white space is probably as important as the detail!
Chrissie and I don't pretend to be experts, but, its astyle we find our eyes like!
Thanks for joining in again, see you again next week

Hi hun
ReplyDeletegorgeous card, fab design, sue,x
Lovely card...great design. I don't know that I would have put the bling in the top corner...although I'm SURE I'd probably want to add bling. Maybe three "tiny" pieces of bling directly under the sentiment to ground it a bit? At any rate...it's still a very cute card!
ReplyDeleteI love your card Anne, and the S looks great to me.
ReplyDeleteA great card.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining my nature challenge at ALLSORTS this week, Good Luck
